“It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.” — Epictetus
“Today’s mighty oak is just yesterday’s nut, that held its ground.” — David Icke
I haven’t been doing great lately. The last monthly (or two) I’ve been feeling low-energy and stressed out. My jaw has been hurting too (plus my normal neck pain) so I’m just a basket full of rainbows and fun.
I know that I need to reduce my work and effort across the board, but I find that difficult to do since I don’t feel like I’m where I want to be career/life wise. It’s hard to slow down—like you know you need to—when half of you wants to speed up.
It’s a very cliché phrase, but I keep reminding myself that “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
Good things take time to cultivate. Overnight successes are rarely overnight (sometimes they’re not even successes!) But if we know that going in, it’s much easier to choose a path that works well for you, and keep going when monkey wrench starts getting you stuck. “This too shall pass.”
