Grounded

Books ground me. When I wake up in the morning, grumbling from a bad night’s sleep, reading a good book sets my feet firmly on the day. Currently, that’s a page from the Daily Stoic, a page from Self-Reliant Entrepreneurship, and a chapter (or three) from another book (right now that’s How to Decide by Annie Duke.)

Breathing and movement ground me. Sitting down to meditate and focus on my breath for a few minutes, taking a walk around the block, doing some yoga, etc.

Nature grounds me. Stepping into a world of green, trees reach for the sky, the crunch of dirt and rock beneath my feet. Or if it’s a busy day, just looking up at the sky for a few moments and reminding myself how big the world is, and how small my problems really are.

Whenever you are out of sorts—under-slept, anxious, and overwhelmed, do the things that make you feel grounded.

STAY BOLD, Keep Pursuing,
