“I much prefer the sharpest criticism of a single intelligent man to the thoughtless approval of the masses.” — Johannes Kepler
“I like criticism. It makes you strong.”
It’s easier to critique than create.
I enjoy both, but it’s much easier to comment on someone else work than it is to come up with something new and original (not to mention finishing it.)
If something I make sucks, I’d like to know why and how I can improve it next time. Because I love the craft. Because I want to be upheld to a high standard.
Great criticism elevates a work (instead of
having the intention of tearing it down to attract more eyeballs) and does it without necessarily attacking its creator.
The best advice comes from the people who practice the craft themselves.
