What do you believe today that’s different from a year ago?

That I don’t have to connect all of my interests and ideas into one thing. Or put another way, all of my passions don’t have to converge into some grand life vision.

I got this idea from reading Austin Kleon’s book, Steal Like an Artist.

His words specifically are

“Don’t throw any of yourself away.”

“Don’t worry about unity from piece to piece—what unifies all your work is the fact that you made it.”

He likely got the idea from Steve Jobs who said “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

You are at the center of all your passions and ideas. Just because something you enjoy doing doesn’t (or won’t) make money doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it.

If I never make another dime off this site I’d still do it. Learn and writing are two of my passions. As long as I’m able, I’d like to continue doing this and improving for the rest of my life.

Starting this blog and podcast has made me into a better person. I don’t want to think about what kind of person I would be right now if I hadn’t taken the chance and started.

Let curiosity drive you, not fear or financial gain. If you do great work to help others, your needs will be met.

STAY BOLD, Keep Pursuing,
