Grow or Die.
A BOLD statement, but in my opinion a true one.
Think about it. What happens to us when we don't grow and continue to pursue something?
Without a Growth Mindset - viewing learning and improvement as a continuous and lifetime pursuit - you don't just stay where you are - you start to get worse.
Your abilities get rusty, you no longer can perform at a high level, and your confidence weakens.
So how do we adopt a Growth Mindset?
A Growth Mindset is a combination of:
1. Curiosity ~ You have to be open.
A willingness to discover and learn new things. Even if that means challenging your thinking, or starting over.
2. Desire ~ You have to want it.
A fire in your eyes. Determination to constantly improve, develop, and strive for excellence and your best.
3. Commitment ~ You have to practice consistently.
Cultivating a daily practice in what you care about and want to grow in. Taking practical Action Steps (AS) you can do immediately to build growth.
4. Resilience ~ You have to be relentless.
Grow even when you don't want to, or feel as though you can't possibly stick with it today.
When you don't have the time, the energy, the drive, the strength andor the will to do so.
Even when it feels as though the weight of the world is on your shoulders - keep at it. You must persevere to achieve excellence.
5. Attitude ~ and finally you need to have fun.
As Groucho Marx once said, "If you're not having fun, you're doing something wrong".
If you don't have a playful attitude towards life, you'll burn yourself out fairly quickly.
You need to see CHALLENGEs as obstacles rather than hopeless tragedies - something you must and will overcome.
